Katrena Griggs

Katrena Griggs knows how to pivot and go big for your goals! Being a business owner and an artisan keeps her busy and in-touch with her passions. Q: What was the best advice you were given when starting your business?

A: Don’t be afraid of what you don’t know.

Q: Name a lesson you’ve learned in running a business?

A: Have plan B and C.

Q: What tool helps you the most in your workday?

A: The search feature for previous emails, and documents.

Q: What do you do when you are struggling with motivation or creativity?

A: Stop, be still and quiet, take time to enjoy something. I indulge myself in something usually small to feel joy or happiness.

Q: Tell us about an accomplishment/a win or what you have in the works so that we can celebrate with you!

A: A friend who has a dog grooming business wanted two of her walls painted “Laugh In” style and colors.  I drew and painted it. She was so thrilled!

Q: How do you stay current or connected as an entrepreneur?

A: Be observant, listen to podcasts, speak with other business owners and customers.

Q: If you weren’t doing this job, what could you see yourself doing?

A:  Director at a museum or fine art gallery. I love digging in the dirt, learning about plants, and watching them grow.

Q: We are all multi-passionate and multifaceted people, what are your other passions?

A: Fashion, listening to podcasts, travel, conceiving, and creating.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote or motto?

A: When someone shows you who they are, believe them!

Q: Where do you go or what do you do to clear your head and find inspiration?

A: A long drive with my dogs and when I can I like to find a green pretty grassy area and lay in the grass looking into the sky.

Q: Where we work and how we work has had to shift for so many people, tell us in what ways you’ve shifted. Have you had to change how you do things? What have you embraced that’s new for you?

A: I have always worked from home so that hasn’t changed, but instead of seeing my employees who would come in a day or two a week, I see my husband (who is now also working from home) and I see my employees virtually. I had been going up to my Nest Studio office in New Jersey every couple of months. Now it looks like I might make it a year before going up there. The amazing thing is how well we’ve adapted and how independent my employees have been.

Q: What is one ritual that you do daily that’s just for you?

A: A big shift is in how to engage with customers and get product information to them. We are embracing virtual sales.
